You might want to check Harbor Freight, they have a 750 lb stand for $39.99 (ITEM 32915-OAHA) , a 1000 lb stand for $49.99 (ITEM 32916-1AHA), and a 2000 lb stand for $99.99 (ITEM 04420-5AHA). Shipping is free if you purchase over $50.00 worth of stuff. ( If you get the $39.99 stand buy at least $10.01 more "stuff" and get free shipping. If you get the $49.99 stand buy anything else and get the free shipping.) Their phone is 1-800-423-2567 and web site is www.harborfreight.com. I have no interest in them, just a satisfied customer. I have had good luck with their high speed drill bit sets also. I got a 750 lb engine stand from "Big Lots/Odd Lots" for $29.99 (Which is good, if and when they have them.) The engine stands are also available from Pep Boys, Parts America, Auto Zone, and Advance Auto stores. Watch for sales for better prices. I built an engine stand years ago, would not ever do it again. You cannot make a stand as cheap as you can buy one (if you count your time worth anything, even if you have the material). I like to pull the manifolds, accessories, and head from the engine while it is still in the tractor, then pull the "short block". I like to install the block, with all of the "insides" in it, into the tractor and then install the head, manafolds and accessories. I also pull the flywheel before putting the engine on the stand. This way you do not need as heavy an engine stand and each phase of the work is with lighter weight "STUFF" and easier and safer to do. Just my opinion, Gordon
