I have a trailer that has trailer house axles under it. My question is, is it true that a Chevy truck front hub& bearings will fit on these spindles?
If so what year trucks can I get them from?
I read all I can find time to read of the posts on these forums, there is a lot of knowledge in here, and I do appreciate it.
Thanks, Levi

I know that Stockton Wheel Service [http://www.stocktonwheel] sells hubs and drums to convert mobile home axles to common bolt patterns. I got a quote once. They are not cheap. Think you would be money ahead to have axles made to your specifications. Any trailer supply can give you a quote.

I have the mobile home axel that has a 1 1/4" outer bearing with a 1 3/8" innner bearing. I am looking very hard to find a hub that takes a 5 or 6 hole chevolet wheel instead of the old mobile home hub.

Some older mobile home axles had an 8 lug pattern that would work with the Chevy and other wheels. There also are trailer axles out there that are drilled for the 6 lug Chevy design. Whether they will actually fit your application can be only found by some careful measuring and catalog searching. What are you using these axles under? Mobile home brakes can be pretty bad, and sometimes by the time you have fixed up the brake system you would have been better off buying real axles with new brakes.
Around here the law has been giving tickets to the racer boys who've been using the Mobile home axles and tires on their race car trailers. Something about the tires NOT being DOT approved for anything but Mobile home use. I really don't trust used MH tires myself. Seemed to me the nicer looking a MH tire was, the quicker it disintegrated. Usually taking a fender with it, occasionally staying aired up and running on the belt. Now I won't use em except for slow speed trailers.

That's the problem, motorhome components are disposable, and by the time people get them they're worn out. The brakes are cheap, the drums don't have enough meat on them to machine even once, and then people wonder why they can't stop. Then, what's worse, they say electric brakes are a PITA, and go for the surge brakes, thinking they're ok because they're hydraulic. Which creates whole other public safety issue. All they really need is to try a properly set up electric brake trailer, to see that they are reliable and trouble free.

You can make any number of hub/ bearing/ spindle combinations, just check the dimensions published at the back of a bearing catalog. But the brake drums are another issue. Are you wanting to get away from 15.5" rims? Tom S.

What I'm trying to do is go to a 15" rim.
The trailer is a tandom axle 7x16' with no brakes.
I want to put 15" truck tires&wheels on it.
The only heavy thing I will be hauling on it is my ford 2000. I will be pulling it with my 1 ton dodge, so not having brakes is not a big problem.Plus the only place I would pull it to is no more than 3 miles. The only other thing I would put on it is hay.

Bearings/seals for house trailer axles are bearing industry "standard" items - mfr and part numbers are stamped on the outer races. Replacements are available at reasonable cost from your local bearing supplier, also at any trailer place.

If you don't get an answer to yur question some easier way, you could take the beaings out of the trailer axles. Check out those numbers then call an auto part store and see if they correspond or cross reference with the truck bearings. The truck would have to be a 3/4 ton two wheel drive model, I'd guess.
