My son-in-law brought an old snowblower that was his grandpa's to fix. Pour gas in it and it runs out the vent hole in the side of the carb. Tore it apart and shook the float. You could hear the gas slosh aroung inside. What a mess, this thing had gas in it and was not run for 5 or more years. All kinds of crud and shellac. I found 4 tiny little pin holes in the float. After making sure all was dry inside, I took a solder iron and some paste flux and solder and patched the holes. New spark plug and fresh gas and it runs as good as new.
Never seen this before, but I heard of it.

I have repaired a carb. float with epoxie. Much safer and easier than solder.
