Any experience with Chicago Electric Welders? I see them in Harbour Frt. I have a Century 85 amp. MIG welder now, it's been very good. I would like more power, 140 or so amps and stay with MIG. I weld just now and then around the farm.

Used to have one of the 125/150 size units and it worked OK but I don't think it'll compare with the Lincoln unit I have now (I don't have a Miller so can't say yea or nay on them, but they must be good also). Just the availability of parts such as tips and shields without having to worry about if the unit is last weeks run that takes some special Metric fitting made overseas of "Unobtainium" is nice. Not to mention that the Lincoln unit has copper windings, where the HarborFrieght unit had aluminum windings.

The Chicago Electric Mig welder
is alot of power for the money, but not
very reliable. After we replaced the motor
speed controller on this brand new welder
it kinda worked. The wire feed isn't very
reliable and you have to spend alot of time clearing wire jam-ups.

If you already have a small mig and want to be
able to tackle heavier projects you might want to
look at a 230A AC stick electrode welder. You
would have the mig for the delicate work and
the 230A for the heavy work.

: Thanks alot guys for your input. I think you saved me some stress. I'll stay with the U.S. if I upgrade or go Stick. Thanks again.
