Does anyone know the manufacturer of the 25cc two-stroke engines used in these trimmers? I want to use one in a model airplane and was looking for HP and torque ratings but was refused this info by homelite. Thanks. Bruce

I beleive John Deere builds these engines. I was looking for the same information myself, so I tried searching at Northernlight.com. Give it a try. Good luck.

Bruce, the info you really need is what size prop will it turn at what RPM. Check with your local hobby shop, they probably won't be able to help you, but they will be able to provide you with the name of a local model flying club. Then check with that club to see who the engine wizard is, he should be able to help you out. Or you could try surfing the Web for model airplane engine info.

My guess is that since the model airplane engines (like the Quadra and Zenoah) are built very much like the weedeater engines, that the performance would be similar to a similar size model engine.

Bruce,I don't know anything about homelite engines. But a while ago I stumbled on a model airplane site that had a discussion board, and it appeared they were talking about things like weed-wacker engines for model airplanes. Unfortunatly I don't remember the site. If I find it I will post. You can run a serch of model airplane sites though.
