Anybody know where I can get a smaller, descent hydraulic press (20 ton or so). New or used. Checked Northern, and I don't want to spend that much. Thanx.

Mike

I always try to find a used one , not much to go wrong. Check with some of the local shops and see if they have one they don't use any more.

How about Harbor Freight. They have two styles and various capacities, one type even includes the press plates. Because you don`t pay freight on orders over $50,you see an immediate savings over Northern. Check out their web site or one of the two or three catalogs per week that come out. Sometimes you see wide swings in the pricing. BTW, whats with the freight charges from Northern anyway? Looks like a sneaky, backdoor way of marking everything up another 5% or so. It`s gotten so I hardly even look at their catalog anymore.

I originally checked on a press from Northern. $119, with a shipping weight of 92lbs. Because it was over 70lbs, it had to be shipped normal truck freight, at a cost of almost 70 dollars. That is why I refuse to buy at Northern. Now the catalog goes right in the trash. I hope they are listening!!!

A lot of people build their own and use a bottle jack. They aren't fancy but they work.
