A friend has a Lincoln Idealarc SP-250 for sale and I was wondering what it's worth. He bought it new in 1992 and it looks to be in good condition. He showed me a demonstration of some of the welding features and it appears to be in good working condition as he says. He has welded alot of hours with it. I'm wondering also about the useful life of one of these. Thanks.

Jay, Is that a self contained unit, or a wire feeder power source design? Lincoln makes a 255 that is self contained for about $1600 to 1800 depending on the dealer with a 3yr warranty.I worked for a company who bought one although they should of went bigger, this machine worked really well even to the point of kicking out it's overload curcuit many times and still came back strong. We did very large excavator buckets with it and should of had a bigger machine. I think the SP 250 is a 2 piece unit and goes for about 25 to 2800 new.
Thermal Arc makes a 375 amp unit single phase for about the same money. Works exc.
