A local auction coming up is advertising a "Schramm I.H.C. Air Compressor Tractor w/6 Cyl. engine (3 run engine, 3 make air), good rubber, restorable". I understand the basic idea of using one engine for both power and air compression, but I know nothing of the specifics of this item. Is this a self-propelled tractor/air compressor? Does anyone know what this is and its capacity? Thanks.

As the proud (?) owner of a Schramm series 62
backhoe (with front loader) I may be able to
help. It is basically an IH straight 6 tractor
which Schramm made into an all-purpose backhoe
that would run pneumatic attachments and move the
spoils. I bought mine a few years ago to do
foundation and pond work and bought the origial
manual from Schramm. I've been through quite a
few repairs...some minor, two major...the second
of which has it down right now. I was checking
to see if they had a web site when I ran into your newsgroup posting via Ask.Com.

Hank , dont know a lot about your schramm air compressor/tractor But Schramm Inc. is still in business (they make drill rigs) I know they have a web site & you could probably e-mail them to get answers about your air compressor. E-mail me direct and I will get their address for you. Andy
