I am looking at a used Lincoln 200 amp DC 6000 watt generator for sale. It has a 16 hp single cylinder Briggs & Stratton engine. Runs and works fine for $1000 is this a good deal or not?
Thanks

Tim,
The Miller Bobcat is a comparable engine drive unit and sells for $2500.00. If parts are readily available for the Lincoln I beleive I'd buy it. If you find any for $500.00 and they look good, buy two. I'll take the other one. A $500.00 machine is usually pretty tired. If you just want a generator for power failures, a propane fueled unit is the best choice.

That welder new costs $2500 new 5 or 6 years ago $1000 is less than half. If it's in good shape buy it

Sounds high to me. I bought my AIRCO AC/DC with 3kw 110/220v aux power and 2cyl Onan engine for $500. It was used but has given a lot of service. For $1000 you should be able to get a 250Amp Lincoln with the 4cyl Cont. engine. What ever you get needs to be DC for welding equipment and automotive uses. AC is best for structual steel and does not do well upside down. Those one cyl engines drop in rpm at the slightest wheeze and lose your welding power.

when you are buying lincoln you are paying for the name. and the product you wont find a better product on the market. I have priced several and it seems to me in this price range thay seem to be a little worn out when thay are asking only 1000 dollars but worth every penny to rebuild.
I would buy it!!!
