Ok, I am 17 and I took out my dad's car and I managed to drive through some white paint somewhere. It is has special tires because it is an expensive car, ie an Opel Calibra. I want to remove the paint, but I'm not sure what to use, something that hopefully does not affect the tread of the wheels..like meths, paint stripper? Please help...thanks :-)

If you drove through fresh paint behind a highway striper, it may be tough to remove. If that's what happened, I suggest calling the highway department for removal suggestions. It's an everyday occurance for them, and they know what will remove their paint.

Also, I agree with the gentleman who suggests leveling with your Dad. Good Luck!!

Try WD-40 or Goof-off (Wd-40 has many uses)

I suggest that if you value your life as much as your dad values his car then youd better just tell him and let him do it. If you mess up now your really in deep. Paint remover will not hurt the rubber. Goo gone is very easy on everything ...no danger. Oven cleaner,,well the overspry might damage the autos paint...Try telling him with the offer to buy him some new tires...I'll bet he wont take you up on it... When my 3 kids do something like that...They have me on their side if they tell me before I find out....Good Luck...Let us know what happens.

Easy-off Oven Cleaner will even remove old hardened paint. First try it on an another old scrap tire to see exactly how it works. Don't let any cleaner contact any paint you don't want removed... edge of rims etc., or your bare hands. Good luck Alan K.

You might also try waterless hand cleaner. I've used it successfully on tires to remove paint overspray. Try to get to it as soon as possible.
Good luck!

You are going to laugh, but the safest way is to sandblast it. The paint is brittle compared to the resilient rubber and it comes off easily. Just mask everything else well!

Fresh paint can normally be removed quite easily using a product called'Goo-Gone', available at many frabic, hobby or quilting shops. It removed an overspray on one of my MG's headrest !!! RED

Try paint thinner. Good luck.
