: I think this must be what you are looking for. :>Link :>Link I live near Rapid City, South Dakota in the Black hills, and as such I "do" a lot of firewood. Naturally I am always interested in a "better mouse trap". I think this device has some degree of potential. Potential for what I am not sure. It would depend on many variables in this case. I would be weary of issues not covered by the manufacturer. Here are a few thoughts. : Note that if the vehicle you wish to power this thing with has a "posi-track" or "limited slip" differential you are asking for BIG-TIME trouble. Furthermore, what if the wood is uncooperative and offers more resistance to the splitting action than your jacked-up and 'unsecured' vehicle, (i.e. obviously the parking brake would not be a real productive measure). Unless you have some method of braking only one side of it, Bye-Bye pickup, with a limp. If your 4X4 has auto-locking hubs they will need to be exchanged for some "real" hubs to facilitate the use of the LOW range of your transfer case without having the front half going 4-wheeling without you. If not a 4X4 then is your reverse gear low enough to provide the nessesary torque, backed up to a large tree for safety of course. Is your Transmission manual or automatic? I am NOT sqaying that this device would never work, just some concerns I would have regarding the effectiveness and safety of this device. Since I have not seen on in action. Never the less I would want to use the "Buddy System" just in case. : Jeez, can you imagine falling into that thing??? : E-Mail me and let me know your thoughts and/or how it works for you. Something simple may yeild the proverbial, "better mouse trap". You just never know. : Good luck
