I am wondering if any one knows of a good place on the web to buy a set of torches. These would only be for home use.

thanks

I'm in the market for a torch also. There seem to be two basic options- a single or two stage regulators. My Sears catalog sells a light, medium and heavy duty sets in the single stage regulator type. My limited knowledge is that the two stage regulators provide better control. Does this mean I should opt for a less expensive two stage or best quality single stage. Good Luck with your information research - I'll keep posted. Alan K.

Alan also you must consider flashback protection for the torches some have it and some don't for saftey I guess it would be a real asset. also up here in Canada Sears sells a set of tanks and torches for 499.00 can This is manufactured by Harris Welding. They have a website and 800 number if you want it email me direct also Northern Tool 1 800 533 5545 has the same set for 279.00 I believe.

Hi Rod,
I've sold this kind of thing myself for a long time. You should have a local welding supply house nearby that will handle one or two good name brands. Some auto supply houses will carry torch sets that are made by major brands with a private label name. Often the only difference is the quality of the finish on the outside. These may also be light duty torch sets. At the local gas house, if you know what maximum thickness of material you'll be working with , a good sales rep will steer you towards the right size outfit. He will also make sure your tanks and tips are sized to match each other for safety sake. If your torch doesn't have built in check valves in the handle, get a pair for the hoses. You can also get flame busters for the tanks if you want to be as safe as possible. Hope that helps you out.
