Small Sandblaster?

The places I've contacted around here seem to charge a lot. I'm thinking for what they are charging I could buy a small one and do it myself.

I've been there done that. If you will use a sand blaster a second time on another project your better off buying one to have around.

I finally picked up a industrial grade one to use in my shop recently. We use it for pickup frames and Jeep frames that we are restoring. I will also be using it for some tractor restoration projects.

Stat away from the cheap plastic blasters you see advertized in some catalogs, you'll be disappointed.

Here in California I have seen nice used blasters for sale for about $350-$900.

Remember that it takes a lot of air to run these.
You may have to upgrade your air source as well.

Owning my blaster allows me to work when I want to, and not when someone else has one available.

I have several compressors available on the ranch, but plan to use a old 125 CFM 4 Cylinder gas rig.

Mine is a pressurized unit that holds about 100 lbs also. It isn't very big and requires frequent
sand, and it needs about a steady 100 lbs of air to it. I have a sears and a harbor frieght type blasters also, their toys compared to an industrial grade model. I bought mine used from a old body shop guy that was retiring. I paid $350.

Look up www.traderpub.com under parts a equipment and search for a sandblaster for ideas. This magazine is out of the San diego area.
