Well, my tractor restoration project has arrived, and I have come to the conclusion that I am going to need to do some sandblasting and painting, and I may as well go ahead and get the serious air compressor that I have always wanted.

I figure an 80 gallon tank, 2 stage capable of 20cfm @175 psi should do the job.

My brother picked up a Puma like this for $1000 from Harbor Freight a couple years ago and is happy with it.

I would rather avoid harbor freight- any suggestions of dealers or brands? Has anyone heard of the iron-man compressors? (www.iron-man-air.com)

I had a 5hp oil less compressor and using it to spray paint it overheated and ruined the cylinder. The compressor repair shop told me that oil less models were ment for very light use and strongly recommended buying a model that was lubed and cooled with oil. Since then I bought an oil type 6.5 hp 220volt Coleman and under heavy use it runs much quieter and has worked great for the last two years. Other "professional brands are even more dependable and efficient". Like any tool "the more you use it or depend on it the more it pays to get high quality vs low price." Good luck!

Bought one at SAMS FOR $750 couple of years ago. Have only had to replace belt.
