I am looking for owners of new 1999 or 2000 Chevy or GMC 2500 trucks, the new series. I am starting to look around for a new truck to be purchased within a year or so. I work at a GM dealer(not chevy or gmc though), so GM seems to be the only choice for me. I am just looking for some responses of how you like your trucks, or don't like them. I will be pulling a 18ft trailer with an Farmall H on it. I am looking into the 6000 engine. Which rearends work well?? I think you can get either 7200 gvrw, or 8200, maybe more. Which one seems best? I pull it with a half ton now, and i think a 3/4 will be my next truck, they really don't cost much more. I would really appriciate any and all info anyone can give me! thanks a bunch! Feel free to post or email me.

I bought a new 2000 3/4 silverado in january 2000 and am really happy with it. I pull a trash trailer approx. 10,000 lbs and find i have all the power ever needed. I would put it against any diesel any day! ihave 3.73 gears with the 6000 motor. This truck pulls this trailer 75 mph in overdrive with ease,i put 2800 pound of brick in the back also with no problem.

Good choice to stick to GMC or CHEVY, they outrank any other truck for performance and they are like a rock, built to work. Now with a 6.0l vortec i would get either 4.10 or 4.56 rear end gearing.Go with gears that are a little lower(it will pay off in the end). I would also get a 5 speed manual transmission, you will have more control throughout the powerband.Or go one further and get a 1 ton with single rear wheels and just get all the standard equipment, which is more than strong enough for all applications. GOOD LUCK

The 2500 is only available with the heavier weight suspension. Get a rear axle ratio of 3:73 if you get the 6.0 L engine or a 4:11 ratio with the 5.3L engine.
