My neighbor has an old floor-type drill press-W F & J Barnes Co., Rockford, Ill., USA. Need to find a feed worm & gear. The plate says Pat. "Jul. 28, 1903", so it's an oldie, but works except for the feed. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably no chance of finding manuf parts for the old girl. Try a Boston Gear catalog, get as close as you can, then machine to fit. Or find a machine shop that specializes in gear cutting and have new ones made. Worked at a place with an old LaBlonde lathe that had a special gear in the apron for the table feed. When it finally gave up the gost, they sent it to some shop in NJ and had a brand new one in a week or two. I'd be afraid to ask what that cost. Good luck! Joe Fabregas [email protected]
