About a month ago, my preacher complained about the T8 fluorescent lights in his church office and the prayer room that needed replacing.
I've replaced over 1,000 lights in a local school from T8 fluorescent to LED replacement, so he was asking me about it. The first thing I asked him is if he listened to AM radio. He told me he very rarely listened to AM radio, so I first replaced his office lights to some Parmida (brand) bulbs that I got off of Amazon. These were about $3/bulb, shipped to my door. These are bulbs that are a named a hybrid and they can be used with a ballast, wired direct to 120 volts or can also be wired direct for up to 277 volts. I put 8 bulbs in his office in the 120v bypass mode and a day later he's complaining that he can't listen to AM radio because of static. Grrrrr ! So I take these out and put in some more expensive ($8/bulb) purchased from a local supplier. They didn't put any static on his AM radio.
I next took the Parmida bulbs to the prayer room and started replacing the T8 bulbs with these. As far as light, I really these cheapies because they are bright and white. So the preacher now has 8 high-dollar bulbs in his office where he listens to radio and a bunch of Amazon-purchased cheapies in the prayer room where radio is not used. Using these bulbs in the bypass mode is the only way to go because eventually the ballast will fail and possibly take the LED bulbs with it.
