If we keep our hoses curled up under the overhang on the north side of the house, we'll end up with the mildew problem. The ones that get the sun on the south side are all ok. On the other hand, the cheaper Apex hoses are on the north side of the house & the not so cheap Gardena hoses are out front. Not sure if that makes a difference either. The ones with mildew get a vinegar bath in the fall before we put them away. Dissimilar metal corrosion is also not an issue with the snap couplers on all the hoses & attachments. If you go that route, might want to go with Toro or whatever else is more affordable. On the other hand, if I snap off one of the Gardena male ends, I just send it off & get a new one for nothing in the mail. They have an awesome warranty & also breakage is rare. The only thing I ever had a problem with returning, was a gas powered cistern pump. Turns out they weren't actually Gardena, just rebranded. Oh well, don't need it anymore & it looks nice sitting on the Gardena shelf. Lol!

I had not heard of Gardena hoses. They look to be first rate, with a corresponding price.

They are first rate & they are pricey. We bought three of the Gardena 8645-U 19mm x 50m Skin Tech Anti Kink hoses back in 2010 & have had zero problems with them. At the time they were $152.50 each. Never regretted buying them at that price. Especially with a 20 year warranty. To this day, they are still as soft & supple as the day we got them. In terms of longevity, I got my first quick connect sets & micro drip irrigation sets a little over 30 years ago & I still have & use most of the pieces. Have been adding a little here & there since. The local garden center discontinuing the Gardena line was a boost for cheap pieces & Ebay is usually a good source for cheap lots of items, should you decide to pursue the company further.
