My Ford 2000 3 cyl diesel is weak! I've replaced the fuel filters, drained the fuel tank, and added fresh diesel fuel with an additive to clean the injectors. Exhaust is excessive and white. What should I do next - valves, injectors, pump?

Chances are when a diesel is smoking white it is burning a little water. Does it smoke white all time or just briefly after you start it? It is a fair bet you have a blown head gasket. Hopefully that is all it is. Look in the radiator while the engine is running... any bubbles? Also, after it has set awhile open the crankcase drain plug carefully, any drips of water coming out before you get oil. Is the oil on the dipstick a creamey brown color? All indicate that is is getting water from somewhere, most likely the head gasket. Good luck.

What should I do next - valves, injectors, pump? YES! Well maybe. White smoke indicates timing or incomplete combustion. Check pump to engine timing, then pull injectors run a compression test and have injectors rebuilt with new nozzles, not rebuilt tips. Pull pump as last resort. Poor compression will cause white smoke.

Well I could apologize or try to justify my position, but I won't. Youd do have a point and I will concede that. I'll just keep my time on the net before and after school and during lunch. OK? Me
