Has anyone had stone chips repaired on their windshields. How well does it work and how much does it cost? I can live with most, but I picked up 2 right in my line of sight. This might not be a good question for this board, but I usually get great info. Thanks

I had a chip in my windshield repaired, I believe it cost about $40. It's been about 2 years since I had it fixed and I haven't had any problems with it.

I've had chips repaired several times (on different vehicles) and was very happy with the results. The general rule is: If you can cover the chip with a quarter, it can be repaired so nicely that you won't be able to find the spot. The bonus is - if your windshield doesn't leak now, it may if you have the whole glass replaced. Another bonus - many insurance companies will pay 100% of the chip repair cost. They would rather pay $50 now instead of $200 or so when the crack runs and ruins the whole glass. Sorry to be long winded.

Ditto to what Paul said. I've been in the windshield repair business for five years now and know from experience that the sooner you get your chips repaired, the better they repair and look. Just a word of advice; If you want a quality repair, have a loacl independant windshield repair technician do it right the first time. Speaking from experience again, I have seen too many sloppy repairs done by the bigger, cheeper shops that have a high turn over in good help. Your local independant will is a specialist in the windshield repair trade, and take more pride in doing it right the first time.

If you want it done right,

Just as a followup on what I had to say two years ago. If you want it done right, go to a independant mobile windshield repair that is a specialist in doing nothing but windshield repair.

If any of you are intersted in going into the windshield repair business for yourself, go to http:www.ChipFix-Supply.com and check us out at "ChipFix, Inc. Windshield Repair Supply and Support".

I just had my windshield repaired by Ziebart/Speedy Auto Glass and have nothing nice to say! They promised a virtually invisible repair, but I cannot tell the repair was done! This is a 4 day old chip, about the size of a pencil eraser with no star cracks! I will be reporting them to my insurance company, as I am *not* satisfied with the repair.
