Has anyone used the Popular Mechanics tools from Walmart? I was looking at their large size combination wrenches, the prices were reasonable.

The Walmart in my area no longer carries Popular Mechanics Brand Tools and I need to get some replaced. Does anyone have a phone number for them or any information about the lifetime warranty on these tools?

In the same boat as you. Was VERY happy with them, very heavy use in plastics plant. Now in chemical environment & have had a couple snaps and now an internal corrosion on a ratchet.

Previously was told of the manufacturer being "Test-Rite", but that numbers were required, which I couldn't find on screwdrivers. This was last spring, and I haven't pursued since then. Now that other failures occuring will pick back up. If I can find the 800 # I'll relay. Hopefully, we can get this resolved.

I looked up Test-Rite on Excite.com search and found phone numbers of several Test-Rite offices in different cities around the US. Link follows below.

Wal-Mart and "Popular Mechanics" tools are no longer a pair. Even though Wally World was the only place to buy them, Wal-Mart acts as if they've never heard of them. So, unless you have a receipt showing Wal-Mart selling it to you, you're pretty much out of luck.

Last year I purchased a pair of spring loaded needle nose pliers from Walmart. I recently went back to by another pair and they changed to another company. Where can I find these pliers?

LADDERS: WE ARE USING A LADDER AT WORK I BELIEVE TO BE UNSAFE FOR ACCESS BY WORKERS. IT IS YELLOW WITH A STEEP INCLINE. YOU WALK UP THE STAIR HOLDING A RAIL, BUT BACK DOWM. THIS IS OKAY FOR A MAINTENANCE PERSON, BUT NOT A CONSTANT THING FOR CLERICAL EMPLOYEES. WHAT CATEGORY DO THESE LADDER FIT INTO AND WHAT CAN I DO TO STOP MY EMPLOYER FROM REQUIRING EMPLOYEES TO USE THIS UNSAFE METHOD OF ACCESSING THE WORK AREA.

I found this site trying to get more info on Popular Mechanics tools. I want to see their complete line. If anyone knows how or where to do that(wal-mart on line only has a few on display)let me know. I started buying them nearly two years ago. Am so impressed with them that I check the Wal-Mart tool aisle out every couple of weeks! The Ratchets and Sockets have proved to be as good as my Craftsman, Proto, and Mac tools. And the wobble extensions are now in all my friends tool boxes. I just purchased their new line of Pliers. Have any of you seen them yet. THEY look and feel better than my crescents and cannnel locks. I had one set of 3/8 sockets come with two identical 5/16 sockets. Didn't notice until I'd had them a while and used them. Took the whole set back to the Wal-Mart Courtesy Desk (at 10:45pm)and they just told me to go get another set. Hey, thats as good or better than Sears...and there are a lot more Wal-Marts than Sears out there. None of my tools has broken or malfunctioned ... yet. All this along with the Price makes these tools a real value. What do you guys think?

I have some PM brand tools. Big advantage is the local Wally World is open 24 hours. If I need a stubby flex 3/8 drive ratchet at 2 a.m. I can get it. The tools seem to hold up well.

My wife got me a set of their 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive tools for X-mas. Said she couldn't get the Snap-On truck to pull over. Yeah, right! Actually they seem to be holding up pretty fair. I had a big bolt stuck on an old "M" last week that I applied the 1/2 inch breaker bar and a 4 ft cheater to and it came loose without anything breaking. I think for occasional use they are fine. Never tryed the return policy though. Would like to hear how that goes...
