Any ideas where one can find a one-man crosscut-saw ? There so old it might be hard to do.Is there much difference in a 2-man and 1-man
saw when it comes to the blade thickness and the handle style ???

A one man crosscut is stiffer that a two man because you don't push a two man, you pull it. Most one man saws have an auxilary handle you can put on the far end for a helper, or just ahead of the regular handle,(which looks a lot like a regular hand saw handle), so you can help steady the saw as you start your cut, or as your arms tire. There are several different handle styles for these saws. The best sources I've seen for the saws and related gear like saw sets and crown gages and spiders and files and gumming wheels and, Oh! did I forget to mention the keeping one of these sharp is a little more complex that sticking a new blade in yoou swedish bow saw? Well anyway - theres a compnay in Seneca Falls NY called, oddly enough, The Crosscut Saw Company. They sell everything to do with these from new and used saws to a book put out by the US Forest Service on using and maitaining saws. Baileys LoggingSupply out of Washington, I think, has 1 and 2 man racing saws. Yes people race through logs with these. An outfit called Cheaper Than Dirt! had saws a while back, and as Norm said, you can get them from Garret Wade. I think Woodcraft has them too. I don't have address's for these places handy. good luck

I have an old two man crosscut about 6' long with about 3" teeth, it has straight, upright handles on both ends, one man can't do a thing with it. I suspect a 2man might have a thinner blade 'cause it's always being pulled, but I don't know for sure.
