I have a curved wrench, some might call it a "spanner" which has "DEERING" imprinted on it. It is iron and looks to be made, I would guess from the design, in the 1880's or 90's. I would further guess that it is designed to fix and maintain a specific piece of farm equipment. Does anyone know about this DEERING company or how I can determine exactly what this wrench goes to and when it was manufactured.

Thanks

I have no idea about that tool but I was just searching the internet for things that contained my last name and came across this. I was wondering if you could send me a picture of this wrench.

DEERING HARVESTER CO(WILLIAM DEERING 1826-1913) WAS ONE OF THE COMPANIES THAT IN 1902 BECAME INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. THE WRENCH YOU MENTION PROBABLE CAME WITH EITHER A BINDER OR MOWER MADE BY DEERING BEFORE THE MERGER. I HAVE ONE AND ALSO AN IHC ONE THAT IS THE SAME AND CARRIES THE PART NUMBER OF H-911.

Bob, the wrench that you're describing was apparently made over a good many years. I've got four or five versions of this same wrench. The logos change over the years and the thicknesses of the wrench change also, but you can see that it's still the same basic wrench.
