I can't identify the model of tractor i am working on. It is a 900 series ford, 4 cylinder, gas engine, row cropper, but i don't know the year or anything else about the tractor... can anyone tell me how to identify it.. i am trying to convert it from a 6 volt system to a 12 volt... i also need to know if the electrical system works on a positive ground system??

any help would be appreciated..

thanks..

The 900 series Ford tractor, produced in 1956 and 1957, is available in two models; the model 950 and the model 960. The model 950 has a five speed transmission and transmission-driven PTO. The model 960 has a five speed and an engine-driven or "live" PTO. Read about the production "history" of the Hundred series Ford by clicking here.

The best way to determine model and year of manufacture is by serial number. Information on serial numbers, location of serial number, serial number format and model designation may be viewed by clicking here.

The 900 series features the 172 cubic inch "Red Tiger" engine rated at 46.3 horse. Additional engine specifications may be viewed by clicking here.

The electrical system is 6v positive ground. Electrical system information may be viewed by clicking here.

if it's still 6v. it has a pos. ground you will need to change it to a neg. ground when you put the alt. on, as far as the model with out a serial no. it will be hard to say. if you need more help on wiring the alt. e-mail me and i'll be glad to help.
