Needed a needle scaler to knock of rust and paint flakes on my old 9N. Prices ran in excess of $175. Can't justify it. Ran across an inexpensive new air chisel at a local pawn shop for $19.95. Checked with Harbor Freight about an adaptor and they had one to fit a .404" dia. air chisel. Lo & behold that was the exact dia of the shaft on my new cheap chisel. Price was $14.95. So for less than $40 delivered I had a needle scaler

How well does it work? I've been thinking about one to clean up my bush hog with, but also had a hard time justifying the expense.

I have one of those, it works, not great. If welding slag is real hard, you have to use hammer and chisel.

Kind of a get what you pay for deal.

That's kinda what I thought. I need something to remove flaking paint and rust bubbles before repainting the deck on my bushhog. I DO NOT want to resort to a wire brush, in fact, it'll probably rust into oblivion before I can bring myself to put that much work into it. Any ideas?

I use muriatic acid to etch rust off metal prior to painting. Do it out doors, use disposable paint brush, coat everything liberaly with the acid, hose off with water after 5 min. Let hot sunlight dry it for you. Won't hurt paint, glass, plastic, wiring, rubber, grease seals. Will hurt, your skin, eyes, clothes, nose, concrete, and aluminum. It's cheap, easey, effective.

Wire brush -cup brush on 7"-9" grinder does a lot.

Some of these super high pressure washers almost get a surface ready to paint.

McMaster and Grainger offer some epoxy product to coat rusty surface. I have a 20,000 gal tank I use for grain, rusty as heck, wish I knew if it would stay on.
