Could someone explain how to make a proper water trap for my compressor for spray painting?

Robert, I plumbed 1" PVC from my compressor up the side of my workshop and to the other end and back down at an angle so as to let the air cool. I put a drain valve and a separator at the bottom of the sloping end of the pipe. I think the secret is to allow the air to cool and then the moisture condenses and drips out the drain valve which is at the lowest point of the line. After the drain valve I connected an auxillary air tank. From the auxillary tank I plumbed my air around the shop. I get very little moisture. If you do this, use high pressure pvc. Works for me. ray
