Anyone have any experience with or thoughts on using a sandblast attachment for pressure washers with dried packaged sand as compared to convential air sandblast with a pressure blaster using blast grit? All thoughts appreciated.

I bought one from Northern, it used a lot of sand and the metal rusted before it dried. You couldn't control the amoumt of sand it used. I sent it back for a refund. My $.02

Rod- I have one of these I purchased several years ago. First thing we used it on was the stucko over stone on my house.WOW! Had to have someone working with the probe in the sand and it was VERY wet & dirty but really did the job there . Then took it to the shop and did some metal parts. Worked good . Still wet & Dirty. the thing we noticed on metal (steel) was that the metal started to rust immediatly , even when we blew it off with air & put it by the wood stove . Since then I have used a pressure pot for metal. On the subject of dry "playbox " sand , the infrequent small stones found in this will have you pulling your hair out in short order . Buying graded sand for a few extra bucks is well worth the while IMHO
Good Luck ,
Andy

Rod, I have one of the sand/water blaster from Northern. It works ok. Much faster than just sand and air. I also use plain silca sand that i buy at a local building material yard by the cubic yard. I spread it out on the driveway to dry it and strain it through some screen wire. This is much cheaper than buying it in 80lb bags. An important thing to do is to keep the sand dry or it will stopup in the pickup hose. I keep mine in a 5 gal. bucket with a top on it and a piece of plastic over top of that to keep the water out. One drawbck that i see is the nozels don't last very long. They do have replacements but are pricey. Good luck if you decide to get one. E-mail if you want to talk more about it.
