Don't be suckered in by the 10% and 30% discount's at the Farm and Fleet stores that are going out of business. My wife and I stopped in and priced a few items before Christmass, when we heard about the going out of business sale we went back to find that all their merchandise has ben marked up at least 50% then they show a 10% to 20% mark down. They must be using Chinese arithmatic. A buddy of mine bought a drill press, when he got it home he found out it wouldn't work, when he tried to return it he was told No Exchanges, No Refunds, No Exceptions..... ..... ...Be Careful

I went to the Lagrange Ky store. I wanted two tires for my tractor. 6 1/2 x 16. With 30% discount they were down from $79.00 to $55.30. While holding one between my legs I called the Tractor Supply in Louisville on my cell phone. Same tire was $56.00 I quickly put them back. If I bought the 2 I was holding and got home to find a blemish...tear...etc....I would have been S C R E W E D ... and ticked off. Not in that order though. First ticked then screwed when I returned tires. Thank goodness for people not buying that stuff...they deserve to go out of business.. FOLLOW GEORGE STRAIT TO TSC tractor supply co

I haven't been impressed with our CG stores in North Dakota for a few years. They began switching over to all this "suburban yuppie" items and never had practical farm items you needed. I did score a few deals when our store sold down before Runnings Farm & Fleet took over. Including a few battering cables for $1 (nice heavy 4 guage too) and a Schumacher 200 amp battery charger booster for 50% off. Hope the new stores management is better at stocking needed items.

When one of the stores originally opened on Livingston County, N.Y. it was great but when down hill quickly to the point I wouldn't shop there, I once went into the partss counter and the "KID" who was there didn't even know what a "farmall" was, when asked he said he'd never been on a tractor in his life!! I would go to the one in Alleghany Co. N.Y. They were much happier to see me and were actually helpful. To bad, already enough people out of work.

I saw the same thing when our Payless cashways stores went belly up a few months ago. Manager says the bankruptcy creditors hire a liquidator to
close out the stores. All pricing decisions, discounts etc are made by them- naturally they get a cut of the sales as payment. It amased me that people would buy 2x4's @ 20% off-that were still more expensive than the next lumberyard 2 miles down the road.

Careful selection can get some deals though. I got some front tires for my Farmall at a better price that I've seen anywhere else. Same with tubes. I got some carb and magneto kits pretty cheap too. The stuff I bought was the same price it has been for the past year. -BTD

Ours is a Country General, same thing as QFF. They didn't have any sales or anything, haven't even been closed 1 single day. Sign on the door today said that it is now Runnings Farm and Fleet store.

Hopefully they will get a better line of products and more variety than the old store.

Runnings is good. They aren't always the cheapest penny around, but well run place, hire at least 1 or 2 people that can actually help you.

yes, I know what you mean. About 2 weeks ago the Salisbury store had 3 gallons of Mini Wax clear varnish on the clearance rack for $5.00 per gallon. I purchased one of them. Went back last week to purchase another gallon , price was $25.95 per gallon then 20% off. Right!!! The old $5.00 sticker was still under the new price. I felt sorry for a couple in the store , they had a cart of clothing and tryed to pay with a $75.00 gift cert. their daughter had given them for christmas. No luck, the cashier wouldn't take it , just gave them a sheet of paper about where to; apply with the bankrupty court.

Yep - ya gotta be careful. Our QFF had "sale prices" that were higher than Wal-Mart's regular prices on some things. I did get a pair of rear Carlisle turf-saver garden tractor tires for $37 each, though. The price was cheaper than anywhere else I looked, including on-line.

Some added info:Barbara Petito of the PA States Atty office said anyone holding Farm and Country gift certificates (in PA), can file a complaint, if there not honored. In fact, she encourages this, at 800-441-2555 or online at www.attorneygeneral.gov. She stated that once the State receives a complaint, it can initiate an investigation. This was according to a Press Enterprise article. 01/05/02. I have a small farm in PA and have always enjoyed the CT Farm and Country Stores which will reopen under Tractor Supply but not for months. Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong please, but, isn't Tractor Supply actually the company that is "ripping people off"? They own QFF now, right? If so, is this the kind of thing we can look forward to when the stores re-open? Boy, I hope not.

Not yet. QFF is under Chapter 11 bankrupcy protection. TSC may have made a bid on some portion of their business, but they have not taken ownership of QFF.
QWFF playing around with fake sales is nothing new. CT did that as a corporation on a regular basis for years.

It is my understanding that a merchandiser was brought in to handle this 'liquidation sale' of Quality's. They are bringing in truckloads of merchandise, inflating the price, and then 'discounting' it as some sort of sale. But it's actually some outside manager, like those semi loads of China tools that rove the country, pulling a fast one. The only real deal you will find is on old Quality stock that needs to get moved out of the warehouse. The stuff that is brought in new is a rip-off, and is not actually from the old Quality.

After the creditors get a couple months of money from this stuff, then TSC will own the chain & will set up shop. Not theirs yet.

We have a tractor supply near us and use QFF mail order. We have been treated better by tractor supply than QFF ever has.

if tractor supply is taking over the QFF stores then we are lucky.in circleville OH we have a QFF. it used to be a good store but last 6 years its went down hill . usually it's easier to drive the extra 10 miles to tractor supply. better service better people better selection

Thank you. I feel a little better about the whole thing now. Now all there is to hope for is that my local store re-opens at some point.

You just keep on believing that. They told the maanager of the local CT store the same thing, said they were only closing the unprofitable stores. His store was making money, the new catalog is coming out things are going to be better. Three weeks later they called him and said to lock the doors, trucks came in that night and emptied the place out in 3 days.

Most of the time I am correct ! You MUST know the valu of something BEFORE you even set foot in the vehicle . Please do your homework from now on !!!!! Thank You . P.S. How many times do you hear that WITH true meaning ?!
