Try taking the spark plug ignitor out and cleaning it.Thats all I've did to mine and have had it about 15 years.

I just got one of the reddy 55,000 torpedo heaters. the ignitor doesn't work but it fires right up if i light it by hand with a propane torch. Darn thing throwa a lot of heat and runs for hours on a tank of fuel. I dont run it if i am not right there to shut it down. I got it for free from a guy who was throwing it away. Suits my needs as an emergency heat source. I am going to check into a new spart unit today at Home Depot. i am pretty sure they have parts there as they sell them.

Take care,

Chet

Had a problem like that and the transistorized ignitor coil was bad. Wouldnt produce spark. They replaced it with an upgraded model ignitor.(At my cost of course.)
