Looking for a Paint Sprayer and Opions

I recently bought a air compressor. Now I'm looking for a good paint sprayer. Looking for opions about which ones are good. Do they make one that uses paint stright out of the gallon can?

I have a lot of exterior OSB to paint. Plan on sealing it and then putting on a top coat. Any suggestions about which brand of paint is longest lasting. I don't mine paying a little more for a better quality paint. It's cheaper in the long run if you consider labor costs.

Thanks

mcj is right -- the airless sprayers (essentially a pump with a small gun at the end of the hose) are the right way to go. There's two types, one uses a rotary pump while the other uses a piston pump. My experience is that the piston pumps are better at thick paints but they'll both work OK.

Neighbor here said she never saw me working on the house but one day the whole house was suddenly completely restained. The airless sprayer sure made the job easy.

Airless sprayers sold at Home Depot/Lowes etc... will draw paint out of a can, bucket or whatever. The pumps are rated for a certain number of cycles, so if you aren't going to paint professionally, one of them would do just fine. As far as brand of paint, I'm sure there are many good ones, but I used Behr paint sold at Home Depot on my house. I pressure washed, sanded, primed and caulked it first. I used Behr primer also. I then topcoated it with two coats of Behr paint. That was in 1997 and there is virtually no peeling or chaulking. I live in Charleston SC a few miles from the ocean. The climate is murder on paint jobs. Most paint jobs here start to fail after about three years. Mine still looks good, and I don't see any reason why it won't last another 3 to 4 years.

Thanks for the info.

By the way, I grew up in Charleston (North Charleston and Hanahan). Went into the service after High School (1965), haven't been back in years. Always liked Charleston, a very nice a laid back area.
