Got an old wrench?,I'd like to ID,can't post pic today but will try to describe.Very old, very HD,appx 16"long and 3/4"thick,double ended with appx 45 and 90 degree jaws, opening in jaws is appx 3/8" wide,2"deep.No size marklings on jaws. One side panel of wrench lettered "FW1 ALLOY STEEL,[BS](boxed)4HT.Other side has BEAR centered in panel.Weighs appx 6-8 lbs.Jaw openings appear to have slight taper as though made to fit a wide flat rather than a nut of any kind.

I used one for years..... ..It's a Bumper Wrench. Used for twisting bumper bar back straight. Bear sold from Teens, thru the early 50's. It was painted orange originally.

I think that may be it,It was uniformly rusted over, after a light trip thru the blastin cabinet, its lookin good.Appeared from bits of paint in the letters that it might have been red or orange. Also found out it may have come from a former(50s-60s) bodyshop, has been lyin in an old truck bed for past 6-7 yrs. Will post pic if I can get to a scanner this weekend.

Joe,
Just a thought, "BEAR" has made chassie/front end alignment equip. for a long time, could be something special relating to it. Course' I'm sure there were people making stuff with bear on it. If all else fails, put it on ebay somebody might tell you what it is/was.

Hi Joe,
From the jaw opening, I would think some kind of tool for working irrigation grates? The jaws would be just about right for handling flat/bar metal of some kind.
