when davy crocket was in congress he said no to congress when they wanted to take the peoples money and use it to help out a certain group of people who had a terrible problem. This was the first time tax money would be used for such a purpose and he believed it would set a dangerous president( spelling). He told congress to take up a collection among the members of congress and use their own personal money if they wanted to help those in distress. I cant remember who they wanted to help.

Davy Crockett would take one look at this mess and think he was in a mental institution instead of the USA.

It was for the widow of a naval officer. In his first term, the Congress had appropriated $20,000 for relief for victims of a large fire near the capitol. When he was campaigning for re-election, a man named Horatio Bunce took him to task for it, and unlike today's Congressmen, Mr Crockett listened to his constituents, and read the Constitution.

You need a class in basic American History. The Nation has always used government money to promote special interests. The first Sec. of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton established the First Bank of the United States to pay back war bonds that had mostly fallen into the hands of speculators. Being from Pennsylvania you should know that President Washington led an army larger than any he had commanded in the Revolution to put down the Whiskey Rebellion. Henry Clay was an advocate of the American System which was to use revenue from high tariffs to build canals and railroads. Was Davy worried about taking Texas from Mexico, which after his death would culminate in the U.S. taking half of Mexico? The Mexican War was cheered in the South because of the potential to extend slavery, but was pretty much opposed in the North, thus setting the stage for the Civil War a decade later.

Well, in Davy Crockets time when the fools became to many to bear, he could just move farther west, but now California is full of more fools than anywhere else. Seems like there is no where else to go.

Anybody know of a good island somewhere where it is warm all the time and the native women dont wear tops?

You are behind the times. We had an election and an inauguration and got rid of that dangerous President. We have a real one now.

We've got a pretty speechmaker, an empty suit, an inexperienced and naive shyster, beholden to unethical special interests.

We'll see.
Once we've had some time to judge his deeds.
He sure looked pretty shaky in that first speeech, you know, the one where he appeared frantic and not very much in control.

But he has gotten some arears in taxes collected from his cabinet appointees-or was that the bad publicity that made them pay back taxes? Maybe he should try appointing wealthy California Lieburals to cabinet positions- after a quick check of past tax records the state might get their share and California cows won"t end up in the bovine unemployment center-McDonalds.
