I bought an old Dunlop shaper that was sold by Sears Roebuck. It has several cutters with it, but is missing the motor. It has a 1/2 spindle.
Does anyone know what speed the spindle should run? I was thinking somewhere around 7,000 rpm.

Do you have some information for the Sears-Roebuck catalog or model number for your Dunlan/Sears Shaper?
Do you have a photo?
I have the photocopy of the 1950 Craftsman Industrial Shaper cat. # 9 AM1600F but no model number on page 29.

John ,
My Jet shaper is 7,000 and 10,000 .

I would stick with 7,000 with an older shaper like yours especially if you have sleeve bearings . I have seen one once at a sale and it went for around $250 . I would guess that a 3450 rpm motor is what you need without looking at it .

You have some nice "old iron" !

Enjoy and be careful !
