Does anyone know of a website that sells woodturning accesories like faceplates for an old walkerturner lathe, the one that I have must be an oddball size. 1"x12 thread on spindle, most are 3/4"or1-1/4" I did a search on walker turner and came up with a site that has manuals that you can download but none for lathes. Any help will be apprieciated.

Walker Turner was good stuff! They were absorbed by Rockwell Delta, probably in the late 1950's. At one time, you could order replacement parts through Rockwell, but those days may be gone.

I also have a walker-Turner wood lathe with a 1-12 spindle. My lathe came with a 3 inch and 6 inch faceplate. I have made faceplates before by finding a 3/4 inch plate and drilling and taping it to 1-12. On one machine, I purchased a nut the size of the spindle and welded a plate to it. Question . Does your lathe have a hand wheel on the outboard side of the spindle? I was wondering if the machine came with this and I am missing this wheel. I'd make one but the left hand thread is too much trouble. My 6 inch plate had stripped threads so I brazed over the threads and rethreaded it with a tap. Keep looking and you will find one. School shops ususally have things like this laying around from machines that were discarded year ago. Good Luck!

Actually Robert I am looking for the lefthand thread 3" faceplate so that I can turn bowls on the outboard spindle.

Walker-Turners I don't know, but the left hand outboard threads are normally for an outboard faceplate. Thread has to go the other way to prevent unscrewing while turning. If you wanted to exceed your inboard capacity, you'd be looking for a left hand threaded faceplate. Delta and Powermatic offered them for their lathes. Just gotta make sure the lathe's well anchored if you want to turn a 36" d. pie top. I ran extra braces to the wall. Pretty exciting when you first turn it on before you remove enough wood to get it balanced. Even more exciting if you don't have it pretty well balanced beforehand.
