I built a trailer similar to what you are looking for. It is 6x12 ft., 3500 lb. axle, flat bed with removable side boards and ramps. Looked at ready built and they were about $1000.00. Thought I could beat that. I did. Wrong way. Got about $1200.00 in it. I do have a better trailer than any of the ready built ones. It was fun to do, don't know if I would do it again. Doc.

I have been building custom trailers for many years. You can never beat a ready built price unless you get everything for free or real cheap. Title fees vary from state to state but you need to check what the fees are for "special constructed" titles. Many times there is a processing fee in addition to the title fee, inspection fee, ect... again depends upon your state.

Unless you really need something special or you can aquire all the materials at little or no cost, you're better off buying one. The other side of this is if you are just doing it to say "I did it", in that case, cost is not necessarily a factor.

Don't forget about GVW, payload, tongue weight, brakes, ect. If you are going to take it on the road, it has to comply with all the D.O.T. reg's.
