I've been doing a lot of research on welders and have decided (after help from brother in law who welds for a living) to start with a MIG machine. He said after I learn on that he'll show me how to stick weld the big stuff with a buzz-box. Anyway, the best deal I can find is a Clarke 130EN at Quality F&F. I've read about the big three "Lincoln, Miller, Hobart", and what makes them quality machines. The Clarke has the same stuff, like metal feed rollers, "Tweako" torch that is non-live when the trigger is not pulled, the duty cycle is comparable, it has the valve for shielding gas, and the Clarke comes with a 10 year warranty on the transformer and rectifier. The price is good as well. Does anyone know of a reason I should not get the Clarke? -BTD

About 6 years ago I was ready to buy a Clarke Mig welder (110 Volt), until a friend of mine who is in the welding business recommended against it. He said parts availability was poor and so was the quality of the machine itself. It was a great deal (price wise) but I backed away and paid twice as much for a Miller (110 Volt). By the way, my friend was a welder, not in the business of selling them. Well, six years later I guess I'll never know how the Clarke would have been but I'll tell you one thing, the Miller is a superb unit and I've used it on everything from old rotten sheetmetal to 3/16" angle iron and it does a great job, even for someone like myself who had never welded much before. Just my 2 cents but sometimes I find that you get what you pay for.

I got a 110 Clarke Arc welder for mobile repairs and a 150EN Turbo Clarke MIG, that also can be used with flux core wire. Its one of the best tools I ever bought!!!!! I use it nearly every day and I haven't needed any parts other than a wire liner, crushing due to being pinched while I was welding. Parts availablity is GREAT, they have a 1-800 number especially for the welders and ship the parts fast and direct!!! I wish I would have gotten a bigger model. BESIDES THE WARRANTY IS GREAT(They wouldn't give it to you if the machines weren't great)!!!!

I also bought a used MILLER 220 volt AC-DC Arc welder at an auction for 150 Dollars. This machine was nearly new and wasn't used much. I took off the metal cover to blow the transformer out with compressed air and it wasn't much bigger than the one in my Clarke MIG, and the internal wiring in the Miller was all over the place, while the Clarke has them neatly routed!

Clarke builds a GREAT welder in my opinion. I wished I would have done two things different though, I should have gotten the Clarke 180 Amp MIG instead of the 150 and I also should of passed on that MILLER Arc welder and bought a CLARKE!!!!! !!!!!

I would buy either a MILLER or a Clarke, don't get a LINCOLN- I used them once and I thought they were very cheaply constructed for the 500 Dollar price- I only paid 318 Dollars for mine!!!

I have a Clarke welder 130EN and I have had it since July 4 2002 and it has a problem already. You can turn the power on and the fan will come but when you pull the trigger to weld it wont do nothing. I have took it apart and check the fuse inside it is ok and I check for loose connections all over the whole machine I dont know what else to look for. Does any one know of a website where I can buy parts? Does anyone know what it could be. My email address is: terry2002@centurytel.net Thank You
