I aquired a machine that cuts the slots for house shutters and louvered doors. The name on it is "MARTIN BUCK AGENT" made in Lebanon N.H. Pat'd July 5, 1858. It cuts the slots automaticly, the depth, the distance apart and the angle can be adjusted. Does anyone have any info on this machine? Some one told me that they seen one on a Bob Villa show one time, something about an old woodworking shop, but I missed that one. Thanks for your help.

Andrew, I don't know that particular machine but they are usually called "louver groovers" for obvious reasons. A past friend bought a new one to make custom shutters awhile back and lost his house trying to make payments on his new machinery (not just the groover). Real interesting, one application machines. The guy called me to help him figure out the adjustments. There are several, as I'm sure you've found. I don't know if I'd dedicate the floor space to one of them, but you've made that decision and should have a lot of fun. I doubt the design has changed much over the years. Have fun!

What you have is worth its weight in gold to the right person. The show you mentioned, I believe was the New Yankee Workshop (w/Norm)They had repro shutters made for an old house and he took you on a tour of a restored water powered mill. The place was all redone and operating just like in the 1800's Try contacting them at their website and see if you get a response and keep us informed. Good Luck
