Anyone know any web sites that offer good prices on small tools (Circular Saws, Routers, Drills etc).

I can't find any that have lower prices than my local Lowe's store. eg: Porter Cable Orbital Sander # 33; Best internet price I found was $62.00, @ Lowe's $58.00.

I feel certain I should be able to get better prices on the internet simply becasue of the overhead involved.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Chopper

Ther are few good deals to be found at Amazon.com or anywhere else on the net. I find the best prices can be had by looking through magazines (WOOD, Fine Woodworking or Fine Homebuilding) for the tool ads. Show them to the tool guys at Lowe's or Home Depot and they will beat them by 10%. Shop around and find the best deal and pay attention to shipping costs.

I have good luck at 7 Corners Hardware in Minnesota. They have a website and a huge catalog. Also call them before you order they many times have a better price over the phone. I have gotten some good prices from them.

First check Ebay! Make sure your dealing with a good outfit by checking their "Feedback". There are a TON of tool whoilesalers & retailers selling new stuff on Ebay.

Second check AMAZON.COM - Tool Crib. The link is below (I hope). They have been setting the discount prices on name tool for the last 18-months. The big retail chains are following Amazon./ Oh yea, Great big Home Depot is now selling stuff on Ebay. Good luck

Don't bet against prices at Lowes, Home Depot and other national chains. Their tool costs are far lower than some guy running a website out of his basement!

Waterloo has set up a seperate factory to make Craftsman tool chests. Moen allegedly has built a factory to supply faucets to Home Depot.

I was in management at tool manufacturer and know that the big boys pay bottom Dollar for the huge orders they place. Their costs could be 15% to 25% below what the small guy is paying.

If Lowes, Grainger, or Home Depot carry what you want, I doubt if you can find any place cheaper.

Hi Chopper,
I have ordered before from Harbor Freight, but be careful. They have some good quality stuff and some of it is junk. I think the best bet is to buy name brand stuff from the discount stores like Lowes or Wal-mart, etc.
I kind of believe that you generally get what you pay for. Good luck.

Chopper Their is not much markup on power tools especially in the home centers. The power tools houses charge a little more because of SERVICE if you need help most likey you will get the right information that you want, and dealing with some one who knowes the business The few extra bucks you pay for a power tool is sure worth it.
