Sometime back someone posted a message about a DeWalt saw that they liked better than a chop saw. I have never been able to find this saw listed even on DeWalts web site. Could some one clue me in on this? Thanks-Jack

Guys, I do not think this saw would be heavy duty enough for what I use a chop saw for. I have a Dewalt chop saw and I like it very much but I cut up to 1 inch iron and drill stem pipe and 3/4 suckere rod to make pipe fencing, corrals, loading chutes etc etc etc. Am I underestimating this thing? 125 for a replacement blade????? I just cannot see how carbide can stand up to these types of hard iron and steel. Light channel and unistrut MAYBE!

In reply to heavy metal, I too have a hard time beleiving this saw can do heavy duty work. At $449 bucks I would like to know more about it's capabilities. Several of you guys seem to have these-what is your opinion after using them??

Might have been my post abt Dewalts DW 872, "Multisaw". I got mine NEW on Ebay for 60% of "retail". It is truly a cutting machine. I also sold my Dewalt 14" Chop Saw on Ebay so as to get the MultiSaw. Best trade up I've ever made. The MultiSaw is 10X as good as a abrasive chop saw. I think Milwaukee does make one now. Either way treat yourself! Here is the link to DeWaltys 872 (Anyway, I hope it is)

What is the difference in the Dewalt chop saw and the DW872 Multi-cut saw other than the blade. I have an Dewalt abrasive saw and it looks just like the picture at the Dewalt homesite. Dumb about this type saw!!!!!

Let's see - The Multisaw costs more - upwards of $400. It does have a carbide blade which I seem to recall costs over $125, so you want to take care of it.

It turns at a slower RPM - 1300rpm. There are almost never any sparks. The cuts are very clean - no burrs. It is much faster than an abrasive chop saw.

I don't know that a guy should junk his abrasive saw to get a Multisaw (I did, but didn't have to). If you are looking at a new saw look into it. I really like mine!Look it up at: Link

Marvin, please post back and let us know how you like it. I'm thinking about getting one too.

Before the DeWalt, these 'cold cut off saws' were up over a thousand dollars.

Hoping that Milwaukee comes out with one too.
