Does anyone have a good source for 8 point sockets? I have a couple of restoration projects that have a lot of square head bolts. I have been able to find some 3/8" drive sockets, but they only go to 9/16".

Proto and others also have them in Impact versions to use with your impact wrench.

Hey guys, No, using 12 pt sockets is good only for emergency or one or two nuts. There is not enough ridge in socket to really grab the nut. McMaster-Carr lists 8 pt 1/2 in drive sockets up to 1 1/4 in. The Wright Tool Co., I think they are somewhere in Ohio, makes very nice 8 pt sockets. I found them at a hardware store in Bellingham, WA, when I visited there 5 years ago. Hope this info helps. George S.

Sears carries Craftsman 8 point sockets from 1/4" to 1/2" in 3/8" drive, and from 7/16" to 3/4" in 1/2" drive.
