Welding Aluminum

I have some 6061 aluminum that I need to weld. It is 3/4 to 1" thick. I'm concerned about the stregth of the welds. What is the best methold to use?

Best method would be tig, run you machine well different for people but 70% just using the tungsten start by making 2 L bracket just enough to hold the alumin in place start of by tacking the corners just by tacking metal to metal. then if its straight and lined up right. I would try welding the seam all the way down. If you think the pentration is good but couged in then run a cover pass with filler rod
