Why is it so hard to find a mac tool dealer? In the last few years I know of 2 that dropped it. Are they not a popular tool, too expensive, or what seems to be the problem? I have a few mac tools and I like them just fine and would like to buy some more, but am wondering If I break one will I ever find a dealer. I live in southern B.C. does anybody know of a dealer?

Stanely also makes the proto line. A couple of years ago they went through a management change which they lost most of the people that knew anything,Armstong tools picked up most of there key people and have come out with great tools.

Mac shows up here every week. But I know a Snap on man that's hard to find now days. After I sent my $250 Snap on Torque wrench in for calibration, they took it all a part, then brought it back and said that Snap on no longer makes the handle parts so they weren't able to do anything with it, I just need to buy another one!!! They would not even give me a break on a new one. Whats up with this crud! Anyways, Ole' Snappy don't like me too much anymore, and the feeling is mutual.

The best way to find a mac tool truck or any tool dealer is to stop at a large dealership. They will stop there, before they stop at small garages, for the simple fact of economy, it costs X no. of dollars to drive to a town, and time to talk to two mechanics or fifteen, its all in the amount they can make in a given amount of time. Theres still quite a few around, make friends with full time mechanics. John in Ne.

A few years ago Stanley tools purchased Mac, and put pressure on independant dealers to either come on board as company dealers or quit selling Mac. Most quit because Stanley wanted to put them on salary with no commission. Our Mac man in the Mississippi delta is now selling S-K and seems to be doing fine. Stanley is slowly killing the Mac line as they have with other brands. Most Stanley owned brands are now build oversea.

Ok this is just plain wrong. Stanley has owned Mac since the early 80's so that has nothing to do with it. Mac also didn't try to get the traditionals to switch over to employees. What happened was Mac wanted to grow their distributor base by adding employees which made the traditionals feel like they were being pushed out which wasn't true. Mac has now gone back to recruiting traditionals and employees. Also the pay was basically all commission and some employees made quite alot of money. If you are going to post something like this then make sure that you are right.

If you really like Mac tools, call or write the Stanley tool Company in New Britain Ct. They are the manufacturer of most all Mac tools. Kevin C NY

I know the dealer around my area dropped Mac too. I bought all of my Mac tools used and when I wanted to buy a adapter last year for my compression tester I had to deal with a dealer 50 miles away, which wasn't bad, because this dealer was a pleasure to deal with. I think some of the problem lies with the tools themselves- I been using Mac on a daily basis and have never broke anything- No wonder the dealers drop Mac!-they don't have repeat sales to replace broken tools!
