You may not want them hooked up. I have brakes on a light trailer and even with setting the controlled to its lightes setting when the trailer is empty the tires slide and squeel as soon as I press on the brake. I put a toggle switch on the trailer and only turn them on when I have a heavy load. I know you can get lighter magnets that might correct the problem but with what was used to make the trailer is what I have. Brakes are not required here for my light trailer.

thanks again for ur replies. i did check, it has continuity. i wiil give the other suggestions a try tomorrow. if i appear to be smart as a fence post. it may be true. it is not necessary for the brakes to work, but since they r there i would like to use them. have a good evening.

Spin the wheel and then energize the magnets... they don't do a whole lot just setting there...

One wire to hot and the other to ground should engerize the magnets ,then the magnet contacts the drum and pulls on the brake arm as it moves.

thanks mr. mike for the reply. i must not have had a good connection. i hooked the wires to my truck battery, nothing happened i will try again. how do i know if the magnets or there or if the thing is complete and not missing some part. the 2 wires goes to the piece that i suppose is the magnets. i will use a meter to check the continuity of the wiring. have a good day.

The magnets may not be any good either ? I had a few go bad on one trailer with house trailer axles. Check for continuity if none then they must have a broken wire.

If you still have the hub off if you hook up that battery it should hum some plus if you take a screw driver etc. t should hold what ever you put on it when its hooked up
