My garden is being overrun - (under run?) with moles and burrowing mice. I get a few with poison, but has anyone tried these ultrasonic mole chasers? I see them on the web for around $30.00, and of course they are highly recommended on the sites. Any advice?

Don't know about electronic device but I went to the county extension agent and he told me mix castor oil and dawn dishwashing soap together sprayit in one of thos sprayers that fits on the end of garden hose. Moles dont like castor oil on their fur. Worked for me bit I didn't have two acers. Bernie Steffen

Our Dog, A wrinkley Chinese Shar-Pei, has gotten
5 moles, so far this week, and treed 1 Woodchuck.
(I learned that Woodchucks can climb trees)
We have 2 acres fenced in, around the house, and
that dog earns his pay patroling for critters.
Haven't had a Woodchuck or Rabbit in the garden
since we got him.
As stated on another part of this forum, I heard
that those ultrasonic things were a scam, but I
have no personal experiance.

I have the best luck useing Beechnut gum ,roll it in a ball and place in mole runs. Moles can't digest it an kills them, good luck!

I've heard the same about Wrigley's. Not sure if matters between Juicy Fruit or Spearment, but I've got a whole big pack of spearment in my truck for this weekend. I also hear that can't touch it cause human scent does it in. I've heard pretty much the same thing, different brand though. Maybe I'll try both. Either that'll kill him twice as fast, or I'll get up one morning and see a mole in my yard the size of a hog tipping my tractors over and daring me to step outside.

Buy a steam traction engine. Kudos if you find one used for rolling.

I have ~6 arces in mole country with a capital "M". Nothing works but traps. Took me 8 years with 10 traps checked daily, moved as necessary, etc to rid my property of them. I have neighbors within 100 yds on 2 sides. Lots of mounds on their property, as soon as I get a mound on my side of the property line I find the tunnel and set half a dozen traps.

All that other crap is the same as fishing lores that fishermen waste their money on because it looks like it will catch fish. Might as well put a sign up that reads "FREE MOLES - U DIG" same results.

I heard or read recently about a windmill type device that had a probe stuck in the ground. When the wind spun the wheel, it created a racket underground that moles couldn't stand.

It makes sense, but unfortunately I've forgotten where I saw it.

They did not work for me. I have gotten one with a spear and 3 with poison. Now in the last 2 weeks I think another has moved in. They come from the neighbor next door.
