Hi All,

I have a Karcher pressure washer with 5.5 horse engine/2300 psi that I can buy a sandblasting attachment for. It costs about 80 bucks, so I don't want to buy one and find it doesn't work well. I was wondering if any of you have used a pressure washer with a sandblaster attachment(even with another brand), and how well it worked. Also, can you reclaim the sand and reuse it, or does it get blasted everywhere?

Thanks for any input, good or bad.

Rob

Thanks for the replies, Ray and Bill. From looking at what they consist of, I can see what you mean by just building a homemade one, Ray. I appreciate both of your thoughts and experiences with them.

Thanks again,

Rob

I've had a lot of experience with water /sand blasters and found them to work great for the jobs they were designed for. They are used primarily for cleaning concrete and paint removal. There is no toxic dust to speak of and they are very fast. Steel will rust soon after you blast it and no, reclaiming the sand would be all but impossible. I wouldn't spend the money for one if I had any serious metalwork to do but for driveways and general maintainence they work well. Good Luck ps they are also very easy to build for the DIY'er from scrap parts

I have been wanting to build my own sandblaster for some time. I was glad to see your note and I wonder if you can give the needed information to build a sandbalster?

I bought one from Northern a couple of years ago, for my 3000 psi pressure washer. It used a lot of sand and didn't do much. What it did clean surfaced rusted again from the water, I had to reblast it with my air pressure sand blaster. I sent it back and they refunded my money. I will just stay with my pressurized sand blaster. Northern has them for $129.00. My opinion for whats its worth.
