I just posted these pictures on a truck forum, and it hit me I never showed you fokes the finished project. Ran into a few snags along the way but T_Bone came to my rescue, (again). Like suggesting I Line X it instead of powder coating, and he found me a really good deal on an 8,000-pound winch, which mounts where the toolbox is located. Before anyone asks, I only saved about $771.00 over buying a factory build gooseneck trailer! More time on my hands than sense I guess! third party image

Hi Puddles,

In taking another look at your remarkable handiwork I noticed that the setting looks a lot like the Pacific Northwest---the foliage, the overcast sky, the water on the road. That's just about what it looks like here in western Washington for about 250 days a year. Is that where you're located? Just curious.

Stan

yeah i know what you mean with the pj trailers there are all kinds of runs on the hitch and the bumper and the prep is even worse like behind the rub rail. but it is still some nice paint and it wont rust on me like my other horton trailers. by the way i like your truck haha

Nice work and that is one very strong and ridged assembly with all those boxed in sections.

Hope the line X holds up. Powder coat sure isn't worth a darn as it all peels off in sheets.

If it is actually powder coat and it peals off, it was not prepared correctly. A lot of people sell things as powder coat that are actually ordinary paint.

That looks really nice. Good job. Been considering doing my own, but don"t have the know how, yet anyway. Curious about the line-ex. Did you have the whole trailer done? Or only the new part? One of my pet peaves is rust. Living in mich. rust belt doesn"t help. Anyway, well done. Gus

Thanks Gus! I just had the adapter Line-X; the paint on the PJ car hauler trailer is still in pretty good shape. It cost me $1,100.00 out the door to have it sprayed, the local powder coater wanted $2,000.00 Plus state sales tax. Behind the gooseneck trailer you can somewhat see my PJ dump trailer, I bought it new last year, after getting it home and closer inspection, it looks like Ray Charles painted it! And Stevey Wonder did the paint prep. Just a horrible job!
