LP TANK GAGE PROBLEM

I HAVE A 500 GAL. LP TANK THAT DON'T SHOW THE RIGHT PERCENTAGE IN THE TANK --- WHAT CAN BE WRONG WITH THE FLOAT INSIDE THE TANK --

I CHECKED THE MAGNET GAGE ON TOP OF THE TANK WITH ANOTHER ONE -- AND THAT'S OK --- SO IT HAS TO BE A PROBLEM INSIDE --

THE TANK WAS EMPTY BECAUSE I CHANGED THE PRESSURE GAGE ON IT AND VERY LITTLE GAS CAME OUT -- I PUT 150 GALLONS IN IT - IT READ 18% -- 10 DAYS LATER IT READS 30% --

Seems like I seen this post before. I don't think it's the float they usualy stick at 0%. It most likely the dial stuck on 18% and then came loose and moved up to 30%,[the correct amount for a 500 gallon tank with 150 gallons].If the dial has two small screws holding it on you can just replace the dial. It may not stick again and you can tap on it to be sure or if it concerns you too much have the whole thing replaced. Any propane company that works on tanks much should be able to pump it out[unless you got an old tank without a liquid with valve then you would have just use it dry].With all due respect to Tom they should have a drill guide block to drill out a broken bolt without hauling the tank off I couldn't guess at the cost in your area.

No it would not change that much. It is not uncommon for the gage in an older tank to do this. I kept a small pipe in the truck to tap on the side of the gages that I knew to be inaccurate. Tell your propane supplier to keep the tank full and let them worry about it. It can be a pain to change. A lot of the time 1 or more of the 4 screws going into the tank would twist off. As a result we would have to haul the tank back to the shop and drill out bolts. I would think it would cost a lot to have this done today.

The level of liquid will change with the ambient temperature.

WOULD IT CHANGE THAT MUCH ????? ??? THE TEMPERATURE DID NOT FLUCTUATE THAT MUCH --- AND MY OTHER TANK DID NOT CHANGE.
