Who make chainsaws for Sears Craftsman? I have one and really like it, but I have a hard time keeping the chain tight (New Chain). Any suggestions?

This happens on new chains.Rivets and links wear faster than you think.Make sure you are getting enough oil.

Maybe a new bar and chain. Discount stores sell new bars and chains that fit yours if later one made for Sears by Poulan.

Hello Gary from Muleshoe.
What type of fastener do you have on the chain bar adjuster? Allen head screw or a nut?
Both systems use a cupped flat washer as a locking device. Try a lock washer it may help.
Dayton used to make the saws for Sears as well.
If you are not lubricating the chain enough, it will have the same effect on the chain.

Dayton is a trade name used by W W Grainger.Poulan made the saws they sold.Poulan saws are bad vibrators.Used a friends poulan to trim a stump down so I could back the truck to the wood pile.Roughest running saw I ever used.Better than no saw but not something I would buy.

Used to be Poulan. Can't speak for today but you may be able to get someone at the store to tell you.
