its a 477 gasser i think..I offered the guy 900 bucks he said no. wanted 1200 .air brakes hold good pressure, cab exterior was decent interior was real shabby,, no rear lights worked, tires were ok, 18 grain box had holes in and needed a rear door..had power divider tandem axle, twin cylinder hoist worked, should i go back ...its 50 miles away and the truck hasn't been used in about 4-5 years...I'm worried about the trip home if I buy it.

I hope you're considering the fuel mileage that truck will get..Back in '78 gas was around 50 cents a gallon..Nobody cared what mileage we got then..I've got a F-600 , 330 cu.in. V-8 that gets 5 to 6 miles to a gallon..And you're looking at a 429 ?? A tandem Mack dump my buddy has gets better mileage than my Ford...

It's really hard to say....depends on the condition of the truck..... look for broken parts and welded parts....the engine should have plenty of power....look for oil and gas leaks...look at the "U" joints in the drive shaft ....shake them....Look at the condition of the truck...doors open and shut OK...no broken glass....hoist shift and work as it should....drive it slowly in each gear to make no teeth are missing from a gear..... check brakes....

A great fun truck..I had a '50..F700 with a overhead late model 427 cu in it,great fun..... Don
