Does anyone know of a company that makes conversion kits for cars or trucks so they can be run on lp gas. I have a job that requires me to drive about 600 miles per week and I am looking at ways to cut expenses.

By the time you pay for a new conversion kit and the current price of LP will take a while to realize any savings unless you buy a vehicle already set up cheap and LP is cheaper in your area. It's not a viable thing to do in our area anymore.

Check with the local lp dealer. They should have somwone or know someone to put a lp kit in. We had a Chev. (65) with the kit in it. Could use either gas or lp, worked good.

I'd google it up...a LOT of vehicles around DC are LP/ dual fuel...as are all of the gas company vehicles. A friend of mine bought a dual fuel Cavalier at a GSA auction out here and drove it all the way back to Wyoming- apparently there are gas wells on his new property and he gets free LP? Anyway- underhood it looked pretty straightforward, thought the LP tank took up most of the trunk. Don't know where you live, but check the GSA auctions- i know he got a smokin' deal on the car, and it was clean.

Decent diesel VW and even Mercedes can be had for respectable prices if you look. What is your local price of gasoline, diesel and LP?
Those entry level domestic econo cars sell for nearly scrap price when they come back from 2-3 year leases. Can't beat the miles per $$$ for that.

Thank you so much.

Look back and find what GM, Ford or Crysler was selling for their cheapest entry level car in 2005. Then send your dealer to the auction for one. That when new $15,000 car won't go over $4000.00 at a dealer auction.

I'm told that ranchers in remote areas of Canada use vehicles that can switch back and forth to natural gas.

WE used to do alot of Lp conversions, Duel Fuel etc. Impoc, Century are just two of the manufactures of systems . I have not done a conversion on a fuel injected vehicle . Not sure what all would be involved. I do know they make kits for them . Engine shoud have hardened valves seats, and make sure to take valve rotators off as lp lacks lubericating properties of gas . Might be good thing to look into as gas prices keep goin gup . Long as Lp stays low .

Our neighbors have a son that lives in Tulsa, OK, about 200 miles from here. They stopped by the other day and mentioned that their daughter in law drove over in her Crown Vic that was set up for natural gas. Said she made the trip for $5 in fuel expenses. I have not seen the vehicle or the set up, but would like to. I can't say that it is an absolute truth, but these folks are not prone to exagerating.

It's not hard, depending on the vehicle.

Most of our pickups over the years out at the farm have been on LP. My '92 Ford pickup was set for dual fuel. I never bothered with it on my newer one.

One of the neighbors had a LTD car with a propane tank in the trunk on LP. (don't think that was legal, but am not sure).

Don't know what state Oakboro is in, so can't help you with any company...

Several local vendors do it out here in West Texas...

Howard
